“If you can’t feed one hundred people, then feed just one.” — Mother Teresa
OUR Mission
ISI fights food insecurity significantly worsened by crisis situations such as famine, natural disasters, war, political or civil unrest, and diseases such as the COVID-19 pandemic. Our goal is to provide financial support to help qualified people who have lost work due to a crisis situation and are struggling to feed their families. We focus primarily on people in developing countries who receive less assistance from their governments and NGO’s. By providing food aid grants, the people impacted by crisis situations can sustain themselves and their loved ones through difficult times.
FOOD AID GRANT CRITERIA
Applicants submit a grant application, providing information that helps us evaluate their needs and determine an appropriate grant amount.
ISI will consider factors such as:
If the applicant has a “safety net” such as family or friends who can offer assistance
If the applicant lacks basic resources to provide for their family
How many dependents are in the home
The length of time the applicant has been out of work or without wages
Other relevant factors as shared by the applicant (e.g. health-related crisis)
DIRECT GRANT AWARDS
Grant requests applications are reviewed by ISI.
If approved, the amount of the food aid grant will be determined by:
Overall funding available for grants
The average cost of food in the applicant’s country
Number of family members that need to be fed
Subject to the above, our goal is to provide sufficient funds to cover 1 to 2 months of food for the family. Food aid grants are subject to review and are not guaranteed to applicants.
GRANT PAYMENTS
Approved food aid grant payments are sent by ISI using an international money service, such as Western Union or Moneygram, to a retail location in the country near the recipient. The recipient receives the payment in person at the location upon providing their government identification and reference number.
PARTNERS
In some countries, we partner with local food aid nonprofits to provide funding and food aid to individuals impacted by crisis situations.
